Interpretation of "Classical": I strongly believe that all horses will benefit from gradual and consistent kind, neo- classical step by step training, building trust and balance, co-ordination and understanding and aiming to teach the horse the language required to communicate and recognizing what the horse’s feedback is telling us. I believe that dressage is for the horse and the horse is not for dressage. I prefer to use Positive Reinforcement to train my horses as I want to produce a “yes- sayer” in the horse and avoid creating a “no-sayer”. Ask a little and reward a lot. I strongly believe that feel can only be learned once the eye has been educated - and human educators must be chosen with great care as they must have also proved that they have themselves developed good feel from training and riding experience, or it will not be possible for them to teach this. If the horse is forced it will not become more beautiful and if the horse is diminished in any way then for me it is not a method I like to use. Any training must improve on what the animal was blessed with and the training should enable the horse to discover his or her own hidden talents. I am not an expert. I am a lifelong student and I chose my own educators with great care. I believe that training horses is a vocation and not a career. I live by this statement from Egon von Neindorff "If the horse is trained with force, then force will be required to ride him"

Interpretation of "Classical": Classical dressage considers the whole horse (mental and physical), it is a system of gymnastic training that encourages the horse to be light, supple and strong enough to carry us. In a world that expects fast results this systematic gymnastic work allows a horse to carry itself with elegance and to perform movements that are seen when the horse moves at liberty under its own energies. Classical training develops the true ability to dance together as a partnership with a lightness that can truly be called art.
